Bilingual and International

At The School of Eastern Finland bilingualism and biculturalism are an integral part of everyday school life. The school fosters an open-minded and respectful attitude toward other cultures.

Pupils gain strong practical language skills in both their mother tongue and a foreign language. Multiculturalism has long been part of our school community, and teachers integrate international perspectives into learning in many ways – from small classroom activities to camps, study trips, and joint projects with international schools.

The Advantages of a Small School

At The School of Eastern Finland there is only one class per grade level, with fewer than two hundred pupils in each school unit. Small group sizes allow individual learning, and every pupil’s unique strengths can shine.

In a school where everyone knows each other, it is safe to learn, grow up and become a confident, creative, and independent young person. We value social skills and care for one another.

An Entrepreneurial Mindset

The School of Eastern Finland aims to inspire joy in learning and an entrepreneurial attitude that supports students throughout their further studies and future careers – whether in Finland or abroad. Engaging teaching methods and approaches that promote both internal and external entrepreneurship are present from basic education through upper secondary school. The school applies STEAM pedagogy in entrepreneurship education, along with other national programs.
